Longfellow Bridge

Description

it has 4 lanes of traffic and 2 for MBTA(trains).One of the most elaborate and handsom Bridges on the Charles River

 

Named for the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Built 1904 It replaced the old West Boston Bridge

originally built in 1793, it was designed by the famous architect Edmund March Wheelwright

The Longfellow Bridge is often called the Salt and pepper bridge because of its 4 Distinctive turrets

that look like salt and pepper shakers .
